G.R.I.E.T=Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering & Technology.Listening to this, people are like"such a short name for your college??"..so when people ask me which college I'm studying in ,I simply say "gokaraju".Being in one of the top 10 colleges,I was really excited about getting in here, but like they always say...some things look nice only from a distance!!!
Since I missed the beginning days of the college,I had been asking about it to revs n shanu and the 1st thing both told was that "CANTEENS WERE SEPERATE FOR GIRLS AND GUYS"...I got the shock of my life!I mean have you ever heard of a college canteen being separate for girls and guys?It seems during the 1st day, gals and guys were advised not to talk to each other!!Addition to it,the funniest thing that was added to it was that we could talk to each other 3rd yr onwards.I faced the consequence of disobeying this rule about a month later when I was talking to a guy friend of mine-a faculty came up to us and said"what's going on here?" Seriously, what the hell was going on anyway? We were "talking" what's the big deal?Another time,I probably got seen talking to another classmate of mine and about a week later, another faculty catches me and says"hey, you were talking out there and disturbing the students in the examination hall"..I began to wonder when it happened and gave a wierd expression of disbelief! The next sentence was "you were standing near the exam hall & talking to a guy".SO THAT WAS THE PROBLEM!Man,after half an hour,I remembered the whole thing..I barely talked for 2 minutes with that friend of mine because I was borrowing a damn pen and thereby disturbed the exam, Great! The weird thing is that in the 21st century, people actually tell you not to talk to the opposite gender. Definitely I understand their motive is that kids don't get diverted, but then you can't stop that from happening. On the contrary, the more you try to restrict, the more curious the people get. People say it's childrens' psychology that you deny them something and they want it more, but after all that's what every person has been doing from his/her childhood. So how will he/she quit that habit of doing what is denied. So, it seems like they are bent on separating boys and girls because even the buses are separate for each!
Another thing that upset me was the dress code cause I'm always used to wearing jeans, but that's okay..it's something you can adjust with...so I didn't bother much about it.The faculty here is kinda good although not very friendly!!the lecture classes are boring though sometimes..but that's part of college life!My class "CIVIL" has become very famous for bunking. One thing I personally admire about my class is the unity we follow while bunking, because if a mass bunk is decided ,not more than 15 would turn up. However ,all of the faculty hates us coz they think we are irresponsible and indisciplined, maybe in a way we are..but the opinion of the staff on us is apparently because of the sincere people in other branches.I don't condemn their sincerity, but the expression you ought to watch on their faces when you tell them you have bunked a couple of classes is really worth watching!!So,ultimately the concerned lab teachers also hate us!!Among all the good things which our faculty tells in our class starts something like "this year batch people are very good,.................."...and all the plus points of our batch..which ultimately ends with"EXCEPT CIVIL". So that's the reputation we seemed to have gained in our college...should we like or dislike that hatred is the core question here...coz if they like us,they expect a lot from you and if they dislike you..they tend to avoid you to the best possible extent!
The part where I had fun was "ragging"...It didn't happen at college but outside college. At least I got ragged at the mmts station. I got to do really weird things and also got to witness the weird things which others were made to do.Frankly,my friends and I enjoyed this stuff.Since, ours is the 1st batch, mechanical seniors declared themselves to be our direct seniors. So,I got ragged maximum by those seniors. In a way,it was fun and after all, that's how you get to make friends with your seniors!!I made a couple of good senior friends already :) .However, some spoil sports who were mere spectators to ragging went and complained, due to which many of the seniors got screwed and ultimately ragging stopped. But in a way, those few days i got ragged, not only did I have fun,but also taught me how I could rag my juniors next year!
So,ultimately life here is a mixture of fun, disgust, anger, disappointment, education & enjoyment!!In all,I even like all the bad things which keep happening to us.They after all ought to be liked. One of my close friends had told me"In life,if there wasn't any disrupt and everything happened right, according to your wish, life would be really boring!!"..which is entirely true. So,ultimately "finding fun" where you "don't get fun" is the funda!!After all,if those dumb things which I mentioned in the beginning didn't happen then what would we laugh at??
However, I do wish to mention that our principal is a wonderful human being and the most amazing speaker I ever heard. Whenever he gives a speech, there's utter silence because not only is it interesting, but there is some inspirational message that he delivers in every speech. If one got a chance, one could learn a lot from him. I can tell with firm conviction, that he is one person, whom every student of our college will remember even after they've graduated and left. So,finally I feel happy to be here in G.R.I.E.T, because if I hadn't been here,I wouldn't get the fun, excitement, the weird rules, the teachers, the lab incharges, the mmts train and most important of all,I wouldn't have met the really wonderful people who have entered my life of late, here in griet!!

Classroom Teaching
One of the worst things in the world is to make note of all the faults of a teacher and make a mockery out of it.I know it's really bad...but I'm still doing it.
What would one say if a chemistry teacher does not know that "water is a poor conductor of electricity"....okay that is probably excusable....but then arguing that the very fact given in the text book is wrong is definitely disgusting!!That is what one particular teacher does...A teacher is definitely not supposed to be teaching students all the time...but then could one do self praising???huh...I wish somebody could tell.."self praise is donkey's praise"!!! ah!!this is how it goes............"Children...I have done Mass communication.I know acting, singing, anchoring, advertising n all things related to glamour"....huh n gess wat??one declares that one is about to do a movie in another 2 or 3 yrs....darn it!!!who the hell is bothered???Apart from all...why then was she/he(coz...I wont reveal) working as a school teacher???...What could you say if 1 declares one's mother "A designer clothes" wearer when one actually wears "torn shoes????".....raising your standard sir/madam???
